Firewall Is Preventing Connections To Your Computer
Microsoft incorporated Windows Firewall, as a built-in
security application in Windows 10 Operating System. Windows Firewall filters both
inward & outward network data transmission. The Firewall also blocks
suspicious and harmful connections upto higher level. The user can configure Windows
Firewall Settings as requirement to block or open port in Windows 10 or above

Procedure
to Check if Windows Firewall is blocking a port or program
1.
Go to Search bar and Type Control Panel.
Click on the related search result above.

Opening of Control Panel can also be done by
Pressing Windows Key + R and Type Control and Enter.
3.
Navigate and Click on “Administrative Tools”.
Lots of Services are listed there. Navigate below and click on “Windows
Defender Firewall with Advanced Security”.
4.
In this Window, Click on Action tab at the top. As
a result, drop down menu will open. Click on Properties.
5.
A new Window will open with four integral tabs. They
are Domain profile, Private profile, Public profile and IPsec Settings.
6.
User need to select their preferred profile
(Domain, Private or Public). You can know the firewall operation on Inbound
& Outbound Connection with Protected network connection.

Suppose you have selected Domain Profile. Navigate
below to “Logging” Panel. Click on Customize button. As a result, a new Window
will open.
8.
Click on the drop-down menu adjacent to “Log dropped
packets”. Set it to “Yes”.
Click on OK to save the changes. Before pressing
OK button, Copy the Path with pfirewall.log extension.
9.
Open the File explorer and paste the path. Or
navigate to the path where the log file is saved. The path may be “%systemroot%\system32\LogFiles\Firewall\”.
10.
Click on the pfirewall.log file and check for blocked
ports.
Procedure
to Know the Blocked Ports using Command Prompt
1.
Go to Search bar and Type cmd to Open
Command Prompt. Right click on best match “Command Prompt” above and Select
“Run as Administrator”.
2.
In Command Prompt type netsh firewall show
state and hit enter. After hitting enter all blocked and active ports configured
by the Firewall.
Procedure
to Unblock blocked Ports from Windows Firewall Program
1.
Go to Search bar and Type control to Open
Control Panel. Navigate below and click on “Windows Defender Firewall”.
2.
At the upper left section of the Window you have
“Allow an app or feature through Windows Defender Firewall”. Click on
it. As a result, a new Window will open with the heading “Allow apps to communicate
through Windows Defender Firewall”.
3.
A list of Application or Program with blocked
and unblocked state are seen in this Window.
4.
You can check or uncheck your application from
here only. If any apps are unchecked, the app is blocked on the Firewall. You
need to uncheck the app and finally click on OK to save the changes.
